11 New Grants Help Communities, People With Disabilities
The second round of 2022 grants from the HDR Canada Fund and HDR Foundation demonstrates employees’ desire to help people with disabilities, in addition to addressing other community needs.
The grant cycle includes two Canada grants totaling CA$20,000 and nine U.S. grants totaling US$133,859. Each grant is sponsored by an employee who volunteers with the charity.
"This grant cycle brings us to more than $5 million awarded in grants since we started the HDR Foundation 10 years ago," said Rex Fisher, chair of the HDR Foundation board. "These grants are a testament to our employee generosity and commitment to improving the communities where we live and work."
Behind each grant is an employee's personal connection to the cause. Several grants in this cycle support people with disabilities, including funding for adaptive kayak equipment in Alberta, communications kits for people with ALS and their families in New Mexico, a new health and safety behaviour program for adults with developmental disabilities in Florida and a personalized recovery program for stroke survivors in Ontario.
"It cannot be overstated the positive impact that these grants will have in people’s lives," said James Hudyma, senior transportation designer and HDR Canada Fund Advisory Committee member. "They will help persons with disabilities to lead more fulfilling lives."
